After glo
The problem
Many spaces within Auckland's CBD are designed for movement rather than engagement, leaving little room for pause, play, or meaningful interaction. Afterglo responds to this by transforming everyday commuter spaces into playful and immersive moments that encourage curiosity, connection, and joy within the city.
The solution
Afterglo is a collective focused on bringing intrinsic play into everyday urban life through immersive public installations and experiences. Responding to the fast-paced nature of Auckland's CBD, the collective aims to transform routine commuter spaces into moments of curiosity, joy, and interaction. One of the first installations within the initiative, Prism of Light, is a reflective light tunnel proposed for Britomart Square that turns everyday movement into a playful and immersive experience.

Context + key insights
High levels of burnout and stress among working adults reveal a growing need for moments of play and relief within everyday life, yet most urban environments rarely support these experiences.
Target audience
Our target audience is urban adults aged 30–45, working full-time in professional or corporate roles, primarily based in the CBD. They live structured, efficiency-driven lives shaped by deadlines, digital systems, and constant connectivity.
Burnt-out CBD professionals need a way to rediscover play and curiosity in the spaces they move through every day so they can feel more present, refreshed, and emotionally connected to their city.
